In Germany, the SPD is trying to make political hay of the Greek Drama, opposing the bail-out as planned by the Merkel government. They want drastic controls imposed on the financial industry before they agree. Hence their strong opposition to bailing-out the Greek state.
What's so ironic about that?
Well, the President of the Socialist International is none other than the current Prime Minister of ... Greece.
So much for socialist solidarity.
Now that's ironic.
